Abstract: Stipa pulcherrima subsp. palatina, a new Plume-grass from the Palatinate. Stipa pulcherrima subsp. palatina H. Scholz et Korneck, subsp. nova, is described from limestone rocks with Xerobrometum erecti grassland near the village Leistadt north of Bad Dürkheim in the Palatinate (Rhineland-Palatinate, Western Germany). S. pulcherrima subsp. palatina differs from subsp. pulcherrima by shorter lemmas (19–22 mm) with median dorsal row of hairs shorter than the adjacent ones. The plants are less vigorous than subsp. pulcherrima. We consider S. pulcherrima subsp. palatina as a local endemic of the German flora.

Weber, H. E.: Zwergformen bei Brombeeren (Rubus L. subgen. Rubus)  ...  9–20

Einen status novus erhalten R. gracilis J. & C. Presl var. parvulus (Hülsen) H. E. Weber, R. pyramidalis Kalt. var. parvifolius (K. Frid.

Abstract: Dwarf forms of brambles (Rubus L. subgen. Rubus). The paper deals with dwarf forms of Rubus species in Europe. Sixteen species (all belonging to sect. Rubus) show this growth form, which is obviously genetically determined. They are regarded as varieties of the given species. New to science are R. marssonianus H. E. Weber var. pusillus H. E. Weber, R. muenteri T. Marss.  var. pusillus H. E. Weber and R. senticosus Köhler ex Weihe var. pusillus H. E. Weber & Kiesewetter. A status novus is established for R. gracilis J. & C. Presl var. parvulus (Hülsen) H. E. Weber, R. pyramidalis Kalt. var. parvifolius (K. Frid. & Gelert) H. E. Weber and R. silvaticus Weihe & Nees var. microphyllus (K. Frid. ex Erichsen) H. E. Weber. – Dwarf forms are mostly about half as tall as the typical species and they show additional characteristic features. Their frequency decreases from north to south. Most dwarf forms occur in Denmark (13), followed by north Germany (9) and Central Europe down to the Danube (4). Farther south and in South Europe they are missing. Four dwarf forms are recorded in the British Isles.

Uhl, A.: Erstnachweis von Minuartia mediterranea in Deutschland  ...21–24

Abstract: Minuartia mediterranea, new to Germany. In 2005, a population of M. mediterranea was found in Schutterwald, SW Baden-Württemberg. The species is growing mainly alongside rural roads. This short note summarizes morphological characters of the taxon and describes differences to the similar M. hybrida. Occurrences in extra-Mediterranean parts of Europe are discussed. A chromosome count showed the diploid number 2n = 24.

Raus, T..: Zitierhygiene 1: „A. Br.“ - Addison Brown und Alexander Braun als Autoren wissenschaftlicher Pflanzennamen ... 53–59

Zusammenfassung: Die Autorbezeichnung „A.

Abstract: Citation hygiene 1: „A. Br.“ Addison Brown and Alexander Braun as authors of plant names. The author abbreviation “A. Br.” is recommended by Brummitt & Powell (Authors of Plant Names, Kew 1992) to code the American botanist Addison Brown (1830–1913). However, it is also frequently and ambiguously applied to names of vascular plant taxa described by his contemporary German colleague Alexander Braun (1805–1877). Thus many plant names are run by electronic databases and bioinformatic systems as apparent homonyms made by the two authors. All names created by Alexander Braun should bear the author abbreviation “A. Braun” instead, necessarily so in electronic databases, in order to avoid pseudohomonymy by uncritically imported data sets.
