Abstract: The distribution of Bolboschoenus species in Germany. This paper presents a survey of Bolboschoenus taxa found in Germany and includes a determination key, characteristics of distribution and habitats and a list of localities for each species in Germany. It is based on revision of herbarium material and field work. The following species are native to Germany: B. maritimus s. str. – a halophile species distributed mainly along seashore and in inland regions with saline habitats; B. laticarpus – widely distributed in freshwater habitats especially in floodplains of great rivers; B. planiculmis – a rare species, occurring in secondary habitats (especially field depressions), recently only in Bavaria and Saxony-Anhalt; B. yagara – a rare species, concentrated to fishpond basins in Saxony/Upper Lusatia, Thuringia, Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. Frequency of occurrence, possible spread and the need of protection are discussed.

Abstract: Capsella rubella in Rhineland with remarks to another early flowering Capsella taxon. Two early flowering Capsella taxa occur in the Rhineland. The earliest flowering taxon, which is called Capsella I, is traditionally seen as a part of a widely defined C. bursa-pastoris. Somewhat later flowers C. rubella, which is probably a widely overlooked species in the Rhineland. The taxonomy and character distribution of the genus Capsella are discussed.

Abstract: Kartäuser- or Karthäuser-Nelke? About orthography of a German plant name. According to the current orthographic rules the German species name of Dianthus carthusianorum has to be spelled “Kartäuser-Nelke“ (without h). This coincides with the medieval etymological origin and with other European languages. But the version “Karthäuser-“ is also in current use and cannot be simply declared as incorrect, since it has a long tradition. From the 16th to the 19th century it was the dominant form in German speaking countries and has obviously influenced Linné when coining the scientific species epithet.

Thomas Raus: Zitierhygiene 3: „Was kümmern mich die Medici…?“  Friedrich Kasimir, Ludwig Wallrad, Friedrich Carl und Friedrich Wilhelm Medicus – Autoren wissenschaftlicher Pflanzennamen?
Ein kritischer Blick auf Brummitt & Powell 1992:416
 ......................................................................................... 165–177

Abstract: Citation hygiene 3: “Why should I care about those Medici…?” Friedrich Kasimir, Ludwig Wallrad, Friedrich Carl und Friedrich Wilhelm Medicus – authors of scientific plant names? Brummitt & Powell 1992: 416 revisited. In botanical taxonomy there is actually only one author of scientific plant names called Medikus or Medicus, without competing botanists of the same name beside him. The irrelevant standard authors „L.W.Medicus“ and „W.Medicus“, recommended by Brummitt & Powell (1992), are to be ignored. The author abbreviation “Medik.” invariably applies to all names and combinations in question. Author abbreviations such as “Med.”, “Medic.” or “Medicus” are to be standardised accordingly.
